The Twelfth Judicial Circuit is seeking to fill the Sarasota County Drug Court Assistant Director position. This is a responsible and professional position assisting management of daily operations of the Drug Court Program, including the Veterans Court and Opioid Court Tracks. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to supervising staff, coordinating and monitoring court-related issues and cases; assisting in the design, development and implementation of treatment-based services; assisting in collecting, analyzing and reporting program statistics and reports; working with DUI Court and Health Care Court judges to monitor and enhance court related activities and services; conducting community outreach/educational activities; assist in working on grants and other special projects, etc.

Job

Program Management
  • Works with Program Director to develop, interpret and implement policies, procedures and work standards in conjunction with Court Administration and the Drug Court/Veterans Court judge to ensure compliance with Florida Statutes governing program goals and objectives;
  • Reports programmatic changes and developments to supervisor the Drug Court/Veterans Court judge as appropriate;
  • Identifies operational issues and works with supervisor to address as necessary;
  • Coordinates services with other court programs and outside agencies;
  • Prepares docket for court sessions;
  • Seeks grant opportunities and other funding sources for continued program enhancement;
  • Supervises program staff and addresses personnel issues as needed;
  • Meets weekly with Director to review program and/or personnel related issues.
Community Partnerships
  • Assists as a liaison with judges, National Drug Court Institute, Florida Department of Transportation, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Sarasota Sheriff’s Office, Sarasota County Health Department and other Sarasota County community agencies;
  • Assesses client needs and actively seeks community resources to fulfill those needs;
  • Promotes public awareness of the Drug/Veterans Court program through presentations to internal and external groups.
Program Monitoring
  • Assists in establishing program performance measures;
  • Monitors program outcomes through the tracking, analyzing and reporting of program statistics;
  • Monitors database for compliance with reporting requirements and ensures compliance with audits;
  • Compiles program data to complete monthly, quarterly and annual reports/statistics.
Client Services
  • Participates in daily operations, including attending court, conducting court-staffing, program orientations, intakes/assessments, jail calls, detox and residential screens, referrals, facilitating groups, monitoring urinalyses, etc;
  • Provides backup to case managers;
  • Supervises Pretrial Intervention (PTI) clients.

Education

Minimum of an Associate’s Degree with three (3) years of experience, including supervisory experience.  A Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, counseling, social or behavioral science, or a related field is preferred, plus 3 – 5 years of experience working with Drug Courts or related experience performing duties for Court Administration, treatment courts or other social services or counseling fields. Professional experience can be substituted at management discretion.
