 Digital Court Reporter

*Salary Range:  $31,664.64 - $60,162.84 (yearly)
*The successful candidate will be hired at the minimum salary of $31,664.64 per year.

This is responsible work monitoring multiple court proceedings from a central location using the CourtSmart software for digital audio recording. The Digital Court Reporter records and monitors all assigned court proceedings, annotates events within the proceedings, and provides audio CDs of proceedings upon request. The Digital Court Reporter ensures that equipment is in good working order and reports malfunctioning equipment in a timely manner. Hours may be flexible due to required microphone checks before court starts or when courts run past 5:00 pm, and overtime may be required. Working relationships are established with clerk's office and court personnel, with limited contact with attorneys and the public. The Digital Court Reporter works under the supervision of the Digital Court Recording Manager and Lead Digital Court Reporter.

Education and Training Guidelines:
Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Prior work experience that includes legal, secretarial or clerical work preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to use a personal computer in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, and email applications is required.   Ability to work in a close environment with co-workers is a must.  Other skills and abilities required include:  knowledge of English language, grammar, punctuation and spelling of spoken word; ability to learn, use and understand the CourtSmart software and digital recording system for recording proceedings;  ability to multi-task and type accurately at a reasonable speed; ;and the ability to efficiently prioritize and organize work, meet deadlines, and exercise discretion and confidentiality.

Pretrial Services Caseworker
Sarasota County Pretrial Services

Pretrial Services Caseworker

This is responsible professional work in case management, pretrial investigations, counseling, and social service referrals for the Sarasota County Government Pretrial Services Program.

    Duties
  • Screens pretrial defendants and recommends eligibility for the criminal justice program.
  • Conducts defendant interviews with regard to basic demographics and community justice program.
  • Prepares affidavits for indigent status for Public Defender services.
  • Prepares local criminal histories for 12th Judicial Circuit Clerk of Court and Jail system programs.
  • Prepares local criminal histories for 12th Judicial Circuit Clerk of Court and Jail system programs.
  • Prepares Florida and National criminal histories from FDLE/JIS system.
  • Verifies information provided and counsels defendants on conditions and restrictions of the referred program or court order.
  • Conducts curfew calls as ordered by the court.
  • Prepares and processes a variety of forms and documentation (Rules and Regulation contracts; warrants; case management documentation).
  • Keeps updated, trained and utilizes monitor case management system.
  • Maintains statistics for Citizens' Right to Know Act.
  • Instructs clients on matters pertaining to the conditions of pretrial release and the criteria and requirements of specified programs such as Drug Court, and DUI Court.
  • Counsels clients on matters pertaining to employment, conduct and domestic situations.
  • Monitors clients progress and ensures compliance with the conditions of the agreement and program objectives.
  • Initiates warrants for the arrest of clients who fail to comply with conditions.
  • Compiles, organizes and maintains records of daily productively and special projects (e.g., ROR Notification Unit; case file maintenance and disposition per Bureau of Archives & Records Management; Jail Sweeps; and prepares periodic statistical reports and submits to the appropriate authority.
  • Reviews completed investigation reports to ensure compliance.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in criminal justice, counseling, social or behavioral science, or a related field.  Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college degree.  Must obtain certification by the Federal Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) as a Florida Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center (FCIC/NCIC) operator within six (6) months of appointment.

  • 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
  • 12:00 am. to 8:00 a.m.

***Effective 12/5/2009 we will be trialing 12 hr shifts: 6 a.m. - 6 p.m..; 6 p.m. - 6 a.m. (rotates every other week - 4 day week to 3 day week)
